Veles, a city founded in 1389 BG, lies along the North Stjarna Sea's coast. Its rapid growth was fueled by fertile lands, abundant forests, numerous rivers, and a strategic location as a trade route between Westglade and the eastern continent of Veil Morass. Today, Veles is not only the largest city in northern Westglade but also one of the world's most populous cities.
35000 (53% Moravia human, 18% elves, 15% other human races, 14% other races)
The Tsardom of Moravia was established in 1012 BG by Bogoslav Meronevich. Bogoslav set the dynasty of Meronevich to rule for centuries. The current Tsar, Knyaz Iliya Meronevich, resides in Veles, the capital of Knyazhevina Veles. The city houses the Circle of Elders, the original leaders of the Moravian people, now serving as advisors to the Tsar. This council includes the oldest and wisest from Moravia's families.
Veles is protected by the Greenblade Battalion, a standing army present in both capital cities. High-ranking officers, druids, shapeshifters, and over a hundred soldiers form its ranks inside the city. The Tsar's personal guard, composed of the noble Vlastela, addresses local issues and peacekeeping. The elite Stag Knights patrol the outskirts, safeguarding the forests and borders.
The city's surrounding forests are the base for the Circle of Gaia. Veles' attractiveness, bustling docks, and diverse population draw influence from various major organizations.
Reflecting a deep respect for nature, Moravian architecture integrates greenery, trees, and plants. Trees of Odom - City landscape is dominated by the dense forest inside the city, and three huge trees over a thousand years old. Trees of Odom are heavily guarded, connected with magic leylines, and present a source of arcana for the city. Two out of the three are guarding the northern and southern city gates, while the third one is near the docks. Skyport - Third Odom tree also represents a skyport, one of the first in the world. Elder forest - The Elder Forest, a dense woodland within Veles, is known for its parks and wildlife, and houses the Circle of Elders. Alchemy Guild Hall - Veles is famous for its alchemists and is holding world reunions once a year of all the famous alchemists and herbalists around the world. Alchemy Guild Hall is a magnificent building with a beautiful mix of elven and moravian architecture, located near the city center.
City is surrounded by forests and small rivers. Some unique herbs and potions can be found only in Veles. Wood from the forests of Moravia is highly sought after, for all types of weapons, furniture, even buildings around the Westglade continent. City's docks facilitate a thriving trade in diverse goods.
From the uprising and silent transition of power from the Circle of Elders to Bogoslav, and self proclamation as Tsar of the new lands, Moravia was never at war with surrounding factions. Peace persisted until the onset of the War of the Elements. The reigns of the Meronevich dynasty were generally stable, but not without their challenges. One notable exception was under Evgen the Third, whose heavy taxation and divisive policies sparked a civil uprising. The conflict culminated in the rebellion's victory but at the cost of Evgen's life. During the War of the Elements, Moravian armies were the first one to respond to the heed for help from the Elves, and send entire regiments of Greenblade Battalion. Recognizing the threat to all races if Solarion fell, Tsar Agor the Second Meronevich acted decisively. He dispatched the formidable Greenblade Battalion and the revered Stag Knights, led by the valiant General Ladazar Nemov, to aid the Elves. The Stag Knights' heroic charge at the Battle of Hazimat Fields remains a tale of legend. Their fierce onslaught against the Zenari army's artillery flank turned the tide of the battle, securing a crucial evacuation of Elven women and children to the safety of Solarion's walls.
